Glentrool - Local Area

This to do off the bike:

  • Bruce's Stone: The views along Loch Trool are some of the finest in Scotland. This is also the 'the cradle of Scottish independence'. This is where Robert the Bruce launched his campaign to rid Scotland of the English. A memorial stone was erected here in 1929 to commemorate his death.
  • Southern Upland Way: Stretching from the Mull of Galloway in the West to the dramatic North Sea cliffs at Cocksburnspath in the East, this is Scotland's longest walk. The walk goes through Glentrool, so why not try just a small section?
  • Glentrool Visitor Center: Set besides Minnoch Falls, Glentrool Visitor Center is the gateway to Loch Trool and the Glentrool Forest. With marked walking trails, cafe and shop.
