There is no need to be intimidated by all the bike chat down at the trails. If you don't know what something means, just have a look below.
| Term | Explanation | |

| Bike Park | An area designed purely for practicing tricks such as jumps. | |
| Berm | Banked corner on a trail | |
| Drop-off | When trail drops vertically before leveling out again. Small drop-offs can be rolled; larger drop-offs may require jumping. | |
| Fire Road | Fire Road, forest track and farmers track are all treated as the same in this site | ![]() |
| Full Suspension | Mountain bike with front and rear suspension. | |
| Gap Jump | Jump with a dip between the take-off and landing. | |
| Hard Tail | Mountain bike with front suspension only. | |
| North Shore | Trail on raised wooden boardwalk, can be very narrow. | |
| Skills Area | A small section of track to practice mountain bike skills. | |
| Singletrack | Narrow trail which is usually 1m wide or less | |
| Table Top | Jump with a take off, landing and flat top between the two. | |
| Trail Grade | Trail grades are to define the difficulty and terrain of the trail. These are usually defined by colour. Look at the grades page for more information. | ![]() |
| Uplift | Vehicle or cable car to carry bikes and rider up the mountain. Usually for Downhill tracks. |
