Ae - Directions
- By Air:The nearest airport with scheduled flights is Glasgow Prestwick. There are rail connections from Prestwick to Dumfries taking around 1hr 30 minutes (changing in Troon or Kilmarnock), and car hire is available at the airport.
- By Road: From the A701 look for signs to Ae village. Take the left turn off the A701 to the village. Go through the village (about 4 km from the turn off) and turn right into the Forestry Commission area. The 7 Stanes car park is signposted. Go past the Forestry buildings turn left onto the minor road. The car park is 500m further along.
- By Rail: The nearest station is at Dumfries, approximately 14km from the trail head. Regular direct daily trains to Dumfries travel from Carlisle, Newcastle and Glasgow. If traveling from Edinburgh, it is easier to travel to Carlisle then change rather than going via Glasgow.
